Note: There are like 30 different condominiums in the Taman Desa area; and I would advise that you check out the maps and so on before going there. Or at least, have a GPS.
The OBD Garden Tower Condominium was developed years ago by a Japanese developer, hence there were plenty of Japanese expats staying in this building. But recently, the numbers have dropped, more locals shifted in and somehow became a lot more localized now... but that's now. About 10 years ago, this restaurant, called Matsuba Shokudo opened at the swimming pool floor of OBD Garden Tower.
Matsuba Shokudo =)
To be frank, if I didnt read about it on Sean's blog - I wouldnt know of this place. So, thank you Sean for spotting out this place!
The wine and alcohol at the walls. =P
The place has a cosy setting, with warm lights, and then there are plenty of Japanese alcohol decor on the walls. There's also a comic/books section for those of you who reads Japanese.
SO... what did we eat here?
The mentaiko. Errr... I didnt try it, but the rest said it was damn good. =)
The grilled chicken skin.
The sashimi set - special order. The cuts were good, salmon were just nice, thick enough to enjoy, thin enough to not be too much. Pretty perfect stuffs. =)
The buta kakuni - or tong poh yoke. LOL. First time I've tried braised pork belly in a Japanese restaurant. =) It was pretty tastyyyy... MUST ORDER!
The grilled pork belly. For some reason, it tasted like char siew to me.
The scallop hotate sashimi... fresh and juicy.
The avocado roll with soft shell crab... yummyyyy....
The special roll, wrapped with rice paper.
Guess what, we had complimentary black sesame ice cream!!! *wooots*
