The True King

The King of Iran had heard that Birbal was one of the wisest men in the East and desirous of meeting him sent him an invitation to visit his country.

In due course, Birbal arrived in Iran.

When he entered the palace, he was flabbergasted to find not one but six kings seated there.

All looked alike. All were dressed in kingly robes. Who was the real king?

The very next moment he got his answer. Confidently, he approached the king and bowed to him.

"But how did you identify me?" the king asked, puzzled.

Birbal smiled and explained: "The false kings were all looking at you, while you yourself looked straight ahead. Even in regal robes, the common people will always look to their king for support."

Overjoyed, the king embraced Birbal and showered him with gifts.

Five Things You Need To Know

The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box.

"There are 5 things you need to know," he told the pencil, "Before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be."

"One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in Someone's hand."

"Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you'll need it to become a better pencil."

"Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make."

"Four: The most important part of you will always be what's inside."

"And Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to write."

The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in its heart.

Now replacing the place of the pencil with you. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.

One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God's hand. And allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess.

Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems in life, but you'll need it to become a stronger person.

Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.

Four: The most important part of you will always be what's on the inside.

And Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties.

Allow this parable on the pencil to encourage you to know that you are a special person and only you can fulfill the purpose to which you were born to accomplish.

Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot make a change.

10 Year Old Boy

A 10 year-old boy entered a hotel and sat at a table.

A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.

"How much is an ice cream sundae?" the little boy asked.

"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins he had.

"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired.

By now, more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing very impatient.

"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied. The little boy again counted his coins.

"I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away.

The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left.

When the waitress came back, she began to cry.

As she wiped down the table,
there placed neatly beside the empty dish were two nickels and five pennies.

You see, he couldn't have the sundae because,
He had to have enough money to leave her a tip.

Kindness

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal, he asked for a drink of water.

She thought he looked hungry, so brought him a large glass of milk.

He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"

"You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness."

He said, "Then I thank you from my heart." As H.Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Year's later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.

Dr. H.Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately, he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.

Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. H.Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval.

He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all.

Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill.

She read these words..
"Paid in Full with One Glass of Milk" .

The Wise Old Man

A wealthy man requested an old scholar to wean his son away from his bad habits.

The scholar took the youth for a stroll through a garden.
Stopping suddenly he asked the boy to pull out a tiny plant growing there.

The youth held the plant between his thumb and forefinger and pulled it out.

The old man then asked him to pull out a slightly bigger plant.

The youth pulled hard and the plant came out, roots and all.

"Now pull out that one," said the old man pointing to a bush.

The boy had to use all his strength to pull it out.

"Now take this one out," said the old man, indicating a guava tree.

The youth grasped the trunk and tried to pull it out.
But it would not budge.
"I – It's impossible," said the boy, panting with the effort.

"So it is with bad habits," said the sage.
"When they are young it is easy to pull them out but when they take hold they cannot be uprooted."

The session with the old man Changed the boy's life.

Everything Happens for a Reason

Once two friends planned to build a house for them. They arranged for finance etc and made it.

Their new house was beautifully finished.

They fixed up a date for the “NEW HOUSE FUNCTION /CEREMONY”.

All arrangements were on and they were excited as they approached the day.

The day just before the ceremony, a terrible shock was awaiting all. The house caught fire and entirely damaged.

The people of the village approached one among the friends to say that bad news.

“Your house destroyed in fire “Screamed the people. The person got shocked and instantly died on the spot.

The people were curious to see what would happen to the other one.

They rushed up to him. This time they added much shock and terribleness and informed him that his house got fired and everything has destroyed. Before they were about to inform his friend’s death he rushed to the stall near by and returned there.

To everyone’s surprise he distributed sweets to all happily. People decided to take up an admission for him in the mental hospital nearby. They tried to put him down the happiness and asked him the reason for distributing sweets.

He replied, had the house caught fire a day late! I would be no more alive.

God loves me and have saved me.

“Everything happens but for a reason”

Story for Professionals

A small touching Story:

A Man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his
5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: "Daddy, may I ask you a question?"

DAD: "Yeah sure, what is it?" replied the man.

SON: "Daddy, how much do you make an hour?"

DAD: Angrily Man Said "That's none of your business.
Why do you ask such a thing?"

SON: "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make in an hour?"

DAD: "If you must know, I make Rs.100 an hour."

SON: "Oh," the little boy replied, with his head down.
"Daddy, may I please borrow Rs.50?"

DAD: Furiously, "is the only reason You asked that is so you can borrow some
money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight
to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior."

SON: 'Quietly', went to his room and shut the door.

DAD: Started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions.
How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the Dad had calmed down, and started to think:
Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that Rs.50 and
he really didn't ask for money very often. The Dad went to the door of the
little boy's room and opened the door.

"Are you asleep, Son?".

SON: "No daddy, I'm awake," .

DAD: "I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier" .
"It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you.
Here's the Rs.50 you asked for."

SON: Sat straight up, Smiling. "Oh, thank you daddy!" He yelled.
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.

DAD: Saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.
"Why do you want more money if you already have some?" he grumbled.

SON: "Because I didn't have enough, but now I do".
"Daddy, I have Rs.100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?
Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you."

DAD: Put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

Conclusion:
It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life.
We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time
with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.

Do remember to share that Rs.100 worth of your time with someone you love.

If we die tomorrow, the Company that we are working for could easily
replace us in a matter of days.

But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.
And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family.

Sand and Stone

This story tells of two friends walking through the desert. During some point of the journey,
they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the Sand:
They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath.

The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning,
but the friend saved him.
After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone:
The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you,
you wrote in the sand, and now, you write on a stone. Why?"

The other friend replied, "When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand,
where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. When someone does something good for us,
we must engrave it in stone, where no wind can ever erase it."

"Learn to write Your Hurts in Sand, and to carve Your Benefits in Stone".

The Blue Jackal

Once upon a time there lived a jackal who strayed into a city in search of food. He was hungry and was being chased by a group of dogs. He accidentally entered the house of a dyer and fell into a vat of indigo(blue), and was stained blue from head to toe. When he escaped from the house back into the forest, all animals were surprised at his appearance and could not place its identity. Taking advantage of the situation, the jackal decided to play the situation to his advantage. He proclaimed that he was Fierce Owl, sent by the king of Gods, Indra, to earth to gaurd the forest.

The gullible animals believed the jackal. The jackal then appointed the Lion as his Prime minister, tiger as his gaurdian of the bed chamber and the elephant was made the door keeper. He then drove all the jackals out of sight from the forest for fear of being recognized. The animals would hunt food and bring it to the self proclaimed king and the king would distribute the food to all equally just as a king would do. So he was leading a life of luxury.

One day a herd of jackals were passing by howling to their glory. Unable to control his natural instinct, Fierce Owl showed his natural voice and howled at the top of his voice. Hearing this howl, the animals realised that they had been fooled by a jackal and killed the jackal instantly.

Birbal Solves the Problem

Several Courtiers were vying to be the Royal Advisor of Emperor Akbar.

So one day, when they came to the court, they said to the Emperor, "We want to be your Royal Advisor." Akbar said, "No problem, but you will have to pass the test before you could be my Royal Advisor.

And whoever would pass the test will be appointed my Advisor." They agreed.

The King unfastened his waist cloth and lay down on the floor, and asked the candidates to cover him with that cloth from head to toe. Now everybody tried to cover him, but in vain. If one wanted to cover the head, then feet remained uncovered, or if the feet were covered, then his head remained open.

Just then Birbal entered the court, the king asked Birbal also, if he could cover him with that cloth from head to toe.
Birbal paused a moment, then asked the Emperor politely, "Huzoor, Could you pull up your knees a little bit?" The King did so, and Birbal could cover him from head to toe with that cloth.

Realizing that they failed the test, the courtiers left the court quietly and then they never thought about being the King's Advisor.

How many Crows

One day Akbar was strolling in his palace gardens with his dear minister Birbal. Many crows were flying around. The King enjoyed their flying. Just then he thought, that how many crows could be in his kingdom and immediately posed this question to Birbal.

Birbal thought a moment, then said, "They are ninety-five thousand, four hundred and sixty three (95, 463) crows in your kingdom, Huzoor." "How do you know that for sure?" the King asked. "You can get them counted, Huzoor." Birbal said.

The king again said, "If there will be less than that, then?" Birbal replied immediately, "That means that the rest of them have gone on vacation to some neighboring kingdoms." "Or if there were more than that, then?" "Then it means that other crows are visiting your kingdom, Huzoor."

Akbar was very pleased with this answer of his question.

A Tiger, a Goat and a Cabbage

In this Puzzle, a Man is traveling with a Tiger, a Goat and a Cabbage.
I have no idea why he would be travelling with such a strange assortment,
but there he is anyway.
At one point in his journey, he comes to a River which is too deep to wade across,
and too wide to swim across so he is in a quandry on how to continue.
He notices a small boat tied to the near shore, but the boat is too small to fit all his belongings into, but it is large enough so that he can safely row across with one belonging at a time.

The problem is that if he rows across with the tiger first, then the goat will eat the cabbage,
and if he rows across with the cabbage first, the tiger will eat the goat.

How can he safely cross the river with all his things intact?

Solution:
I. First a man will go with a goat.
II. Then go with a tiger and bring his goat back with him.
III. Then bring the cabbage with him leaving a goat at First side of river.
IV. Now Tiger and cabbage are on another side of river and now a man will go
to that of river with his goat.
This is the ideal solution from which he could cross the river with all his belongings intact.

The Heron and the Crab

Once upon a time there lived a heron by the side of a pond.
It was a lazy creature and once deivsed a plan to get a supply of fish without doing much work. So one day, he went to the side of the pond and put on a gloomy face without attempting to catch any fish.
The pond was also inhabited by a carb, which was wise and often helped the fish in the pond.
On seeing the gloomy heron, the crab asked her what the matter was.

The heron said, "Alas! I am worried that the pond is going to be soon devoid of any fish, which are in turn my source of food. I overheard a group of fishermen talking about catching all the fish in this pond. But I know of a pond somewhat far away, where all the fish shall be safe. If the fish are interested, i can carry a few each day to the other pond where they will be safe."

All the fish were eager to make use of the heron in reaching a safer destination. So everyday some of the them volunteer to go with the heron. The heron took some fish each day in the beak, and on reaching a large rock used to eat all the fish up and leave the bones of the fish at the rock. So she was able to get a continuos supply of fish at no effort at all. In the end, the curiosity got the better of the crab, and one day it volunteered to go with the fish. When it had gone closer to the rock, it realised the foul play the heron had been playing on the poor fish. Enraged, it tightened its claws around the neck of the heron and snapped the head of the heron off. The heron this died a selfish death. The crab crept back to the pond and told all the fish about the lies the heron had been telling.

Lesson on Temper

There once was a little boy who had a Bad Temper.

His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper,
he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.

The first day the Boy had driven 45 nails into the fence.

Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered
daily gradually dwindled down.

He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.
Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all.

He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out
one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that
all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence.

He said, 'You have done well, my Son, but look at the holes in the fence.

The fence will never be the same.

When you say things in anger, they Leave a Scar just like this one.

You can put a knife in a man and draw it out.

But, It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry,

the Wound Will Still be There.

A Verbal Wound is as bad as a Physical One.
