WE HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."
Romans 5:8,9 (King James Version)
One of the most vicious attacks that satan launches against us is when he reminds us of our past sins and tells us that we have not been forgiven. I submit to you on the authority of the Word of God that if we have admitted that we are sinners, repented of our sins and asked God to forgive us, we have been forgiven.
When the precious redeeming blood of the Christ of Calvary is applied to our heart for the forgiveness of our sins, God forgives us for every sin we have ever committed and He forgets our sins. Also, He never brings them up again or holds them against us. When He forgives us, He forgives us from His heart.
One of the definitions in Webster's Dictionary for pardon is "the excusing of an offense without exacting a penalty". When Jesus was crucified on that cruel cross and died for us, He paid the price for our sins. Our salvation is free to us but it cost Jesus everything, His life. It was the most expensive gift ever bought.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Our salvation is not only the most expensive gift, it is also the greatest gift ever given. God loves us so much that He gave His own Son to die for us so we may have the privilege of being saved.
What unconditional love flows from the heart of God and Jesus for us! It is a love beyond compare. It is a love that will never end. All hail, King Jesus! Thank God for the cross of love.
