On Thursday, I attended this wine tasting session - a special invites only session by o'gourmet and Michel Rolland. =) It was a preview to its secret soiree - an intimate private session.... I shall elaborate further.
BSC's o'gourmet has a wide selection of premium wines from all over the world. =)
It was a very casual and simple session, whereby the guest sommelier Didier Richer, a personal friend of Michel Rolland the winemaker introduced us all to a very special night of delightful simple foods from MEZZE and of course, its wine pairings. =)
The white and green asparagus, with hollandaise and lemon oil. =)
The Chateau La Grande Clotte Blanc.
Michel Rolland dont do much white wines - but the Chateau La Grande Clotte Blanc would be amongst its very good, as well as premium and exclusive whites. =) ...and yes, this pairs perfectly with the asparagus!
The Mariflor Pinot Noir.
The Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago.
The Mariflor Pinot Noir however, comes from Mendoza in Argentina. The wine is a little spicy-based - and the perfect food pairing for it... would be....
The spicy crab rissole with basil oil.
A slightly spicy dish ==> and this spicy + the spicyness of the wine... = makes a good combo!
The mini burger aux foie gras. =)
The burger... being very meaty with a tinge of foie gras - but also very tasty, goes perfectly well with a red wine. Which red wine? I apologize cos I forgot to snap the picture, but if you look below, it is the bottle in the middle, the 3rd bottle.
Originating from Libournais, Bordeaux, France, the Chateau Bertineau Saint-Vincent is a wine with the true character of the Lalande de Pomerol appellation and aged in one-year old barrels.
The full selection.... wait... let me introduce the 4th and 5th one first. =)
The 2006 Chateau Fontenil Fronsac. =)
The Chateau Fontenil Fronsac - its grapes are harvested manually at full ripeness and then it is sorted before and after destemming. The grapes are fermented separately in small wood and steel tanks, with thermoregulation. Its aging is between 12 to 15 months in 60% new oak barrels.
Once again... another red wine to be paired with something meaty...
The lamb cutlets marinated in balsamico. =P
Last but not least, we go back to Argentina for the Yacochuya. =)
This is surely one of the best and most sophisticated Malbecs ever produced.
This is surely one of the best and most sophisticated Malbecs ever produced.
The Yacochuya - to be paired with the Mini roquefort quiche.
SO... you've seen the wine... and you've seen the food. =) Yes, the food shown above are all the specials of Chef Yves from MEZZE - who by far has the BEST carbonara in Kuala Lumpur. =)
Anyways, come next Thursday, on the 21st of April 2011 - at 7pm til 8.30pm, o'gourmet and Michel Rolland proudly invite you to go to the o'gourmet Food Hall's Wine Area at the East Wing of BSC to check out their secret soiree - at RM 50 per pax.
