Pasar Ramadhan, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, KL

Okay I know that this post is quite outdated now that the fasting month is over. Anyways, before I continue further, I would like to wish all my Muslim friends a Selamat Hari Raya - in case you didnt receive my wishes.

Just two weeks ago, I went to the Pasar Ramadhan at Taman Tun Dr. Ismail - the ramadhan pasar used to be much larger and extended - but this year's was somehow rather small. =(

Nevermind, let me entertain you all with some awesome pictures - taken with my iPhone4 =P

Nasi tomato?

Satay!!!

Otak-otak!!!

But someone told me that KL's otak-otak can never be compared to those at her hometown in Muar lorrr... nevermind, she's gonna bring me to her hometown to try the otak-otak! =)

Ooooo the awesome murtabak!

I would not miss out on the Pasar Ramadhan specials such as the lemangs, the murtabaks, and probably a lot of other good stuffs - including the ayam perciks!!! *yummmmyyyzzzz*

Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur.

Last Sunday, I was at Petaling Street - randomly, just to snap some pictures. =)

Petaling Street (Malay: Jalan Petaling, Simplified Chinese: 茨厂街, Traditional Chinese: 茨廠街, pinyin: Cíchǎng Jiē, Cantonese: Chee Cheong Kai) is a Chinatown located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is infamous for pirated clothes and accessories along with bootleg DVDs and CDs. Petaling Street however does not exclusively offer pirated products. Haggling is a common sight here and the place is usually crowded with locals as well as tourists.

The area has dozens of restaurants and food stalls, serving local favourites such as Hokkien mee, ikan bakar (barbecued fish), asam laksa and curry noodles. Traders here are mainly Chinese but there are also Indian, Malay, and Bangladeshi traders.

The original Chinatown centred on Market Square. Jalan Tun H.S. Lee or High Street, became increasingly popular as it was higher than the rest of the town and therefore less prone to floods. The wealthier and more ornate shop houses were built north of Jalan Cheng Lock, closer to the business centre.

Buy toys and much more here.

The scene during the daytime.

Sometimes you'll see this too.

Watches, anyone?

Sunglasses.

The chic with me who took this picture. =)

For those who want to shop in a bit of air cond, can check out the Pasaraya area.

Tapah Road town, Perak.

One of my major projects is in Tapah; or rather, on the road towards Tapah Road. During my last visit to the site, I decided to check out the Tapah Road town.... and here are some pictures. =)

Tapah Road (pop. ~7,000) is a small town which is located near Tapah, in the state of Perak, in Malaysia. The population consists of 40% Muslim Malays, 30% Chinese, 20% Indians and a few indigenous.

The town was of greater importance in the last century because it has a railway station which is one of the oldest in Malaysia. The station was constructed with a 30-km (19 mile) railway to Teluk Intan in the 1880s. As the station is also linked to the major railway line from Penang to Singapore, Tapah Road is considered as a major stop. This is because it is the gateway to Cameron Highlands, the cold highland resort which was popular to the colonists. The relative importance of both towns in terms of economic activities in the region became less as road vehicles gained popularity in the last three decades of the last century. Even the train service between Tapah Road and Teluk Intan has been terminated in 1991 and the railtrack is no longer in place. A new double-track railway line is now under construction from Singapore to Penang and thus the railway station has been renovated to suit the new tracks.

The town is on the road leading to Tapah and thus led to its name. This name has drawn some criticism from local Malay linguists because it has a colonial 'stain' on it. A number of towns in Perak also have this 'stain' such as Slim River, Port Weld (now Kuala Sepetang) and Teluk Anson (now Teluk Intan). Tapah Road maintained its name because the equivalent version in Malay ('Jalan Tapah') is also not suitable because it is not to be named after a road, but a town.

Going to Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan is a transcontinental country in Central Asia and Eastern Europe. Ranked as the ninth largest country in the world, it is also the world's largest landlocked country; its territory of 2,727,300 square kilometres (1,053,000 sq mi) is greater than Western Europe. Kazakhstan is one of the six independent Turkic states. It is neighbored clockwise from the north by Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and also borders on a significant part of the Caspian Sea.

Although Kazakhstan does not share a border with Mongolia, its most easterly point is only 38 kilometres (24 mi) from Mongolia's western tip. The capital was moved in 1997 from Almaty - Kazakhstan's largest city, to Astana. Vast in size, the terrain of Kazakhstan ranges from flatlands, steppes, taigas, rock-canyons, hills, deltas, and snow-capped mountains to deserts. With 16.4 million people - Kazakhstan has the 62nd largest population in the world, though its population density is less than 6 people per square kilometre (15 per sq. mi.).

I had actually been to Kazakhstan before. Here are some random pictures.

This is the Intercontinental Hotel, located in Almaty, Kazakhstan that I stayed in.

Here is in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana.

A traditional Kazakh restaurant.

Kazakh architecture LOL.

Traditional belly dancing.

.... this one's for my friends. Enough said. Haha.

Errr..... toilet?

The bed.

The entrance; with a little mirror on the wall for vain ladies.

The view from the bed.

...and then there's a sofa there too - with a miserable looking TV though LOL.

The Pangkor Laut Resort.

Do you know where this is? This is the Pangkor Laut Resort. =)

Pangkor Laut is a private island located three miles off the West coast along the Straits of Malacca. This piece of paradise has been 2 million years in the making, and here you will find one of the world’s premier resorts nestling in the shade of forest giants as old as the land.

...and here are some pictures of the awesome private island.

Today... I would like to show you a very beautiful holiday resort.

Beautiful isnt it? How to get there.... simple. =)

Pangkor Laut Resort is located on the privately owned island of Pangkor Laut 1.6 km off the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is a truly tropical isle with rocky outcrops and white sandy beaches fringed by a beautiful rain forest which thrives in the tropical climate.

Malaysia Airlines operates international flights from major destinations around the world to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Sepang. From Kuala Lumpur, you may continue your journey by land or by air towards Pangkor Laut. Those traveling to and from Singapore also have the option of flying into Ipoh Airport or Skypark Subang Terminal (formerly known as Terminal 3 Subang) via Firefly and continue the journey by land towards Pangkor Laut.
